The Sound That Sparked It All: How Yussef Dayes’ Beach-Inspired Soundscape Helped Me Find My Beach Life State of Mind™️

Before Getaway Culture Company had a name…

Before the Jetsetter Kit, the merch, the vision of a head spa by the virtual sea…

There was this sound.

A heartbeat in rhythm.

A ritual in melody.

A moment of stillness in a chaotic summer.

That sound was Yussef Dayes’ “Live From Malibu”, a 35-minute soundscape that’s now etched into my memory as the moment I found what I now call my Beach Life State of Mind™️.

🎧 Listen & Watch it Here:

A Ritual That Found Me

The first time I pressed play, I didn’t know what I was looking for.

I just knew I needed something—an anchor, a breath, a pause.

And what I found was an entire mood shift wrapped in sound.

This wasn’t background music. This was a living, breathing experience. From the waves of percussion that mimic the ocean, to the hypnotic basslines, to the unmistakable Dilla-inspired grooves that dance between jazz and soul—this soundscape felt like therapy in motion.

It gave me a reasonable pocket of peace—just over 30 minutes—to come back to every single day.

And I did.

Styling my hair. Making my morning matcha. Journaling.

Breathing.

Little by little, that practice became something more.

It became a state of mind.

The Origin of the Beach Life State of Mind™️

That summer, listening to this soundscape daily—watching the drone footage of ocean cliffs and distant mountains while syncing my breath to the drums—I started to change.

I wasn’t just relaxing.

I was reconnecting.

I wasn’t escaping.

I was arriving—back to myself.

The waves of sound reminded me to flow.

The beats echoed like a heartbeat, syncing me back into my body.

The setting—the coast, the cliffs, the spacious sky—reminded me that expansion is always available.

And somewhere in that ritual, I found the words:

Beach Life State of Mind™️.

It wasn’t just a vibe.

It was a lifeline.

A way to reframe life through ease, rhythm, freedom, beauty, and daily rituals that make you feel whole again.

Mental Health, Ritual, and the Power of Sonic Healing

Music has always been medicine—but there’s something profound about music as ritual. When we build consistent sensory habits—like listening to the same healing soundscape while doing a small act of self-care—it grounds our nervous system. It sends the message: you’re safe now. You’re here. You’re allowed to feel good.

This soundscape became that for me.

It was the first brushstroke on the canvas of what would eventually become Getaway Culture Company. A brand, a lifestyle, and a movement designed to bring that same healing to others through hair rituals, wellness tools, and moments of mindful beauty.

Your Invitation to the Sound of Stillness

So if you’re searching for that spark—if you need a new ritual to anchor your morning, ease your mind, or reset your day—I invite you to press play.

Let this be your beginning, too.

Let this be your soundtrack for coming home to yourself.

Let it be the first whisper of your own Beach Life State of Mind™️.

With love and waves,
