Hi, I'm Hannah (they/them), Founder, Owner, & CEO of Getaway Culture Company. My passion is to use the healing elements of the beach with inspirational and high-value products, services, and tools to help you achieve your dream life and the feeling that every day is a joyful vacation.

My initial inspiration to form the brand came from my experiences as a Chemist, Cosmetologist, and as a lover of long weekend getaways to beach-like venues like Indiana Dunes and Bali. Coming from a male-dominated STEM industry, I knew firsthand the effects of the frustrating and all-too-real glass ceiling. But I recognized just how much partaking in femme glamour and personal styling really helped me navigate that experience. Disillusioned, I wanted to find a way to encounter more people 1-on-1 and speak encouraging truths into their lives. So I did a 180 and left my career as a Senior Chemist in cosmetics & pharma to attend Cosmetology School.

 

After I became a Licensed Cosmetologist, I spent a couple years working in salons in the Midwest. I just kept seeing how Women & Femme-Folx weren't being adequately served in the salon setting, and I vowed to find a way to do better. I realized that stylists never teach their clients how to replicate salon-ready hair at home after paying so much money to get awesome locks in salon, and I also picked on way too much disempowering gossip and not enough uplifting ideas in the salon setting. Women (& Folx) letting other Women (& Folx) down. Constantly.

Looking for inspiration outside the salon, I took Regan Hillyer's course "The Art of Manifestation" back in April 2024 and realized what I needed to do. Drawing on my inspirations, I built out the Getaway Culture Company concept and found a way to make it happen. This is the result.
